Yesterday was, of course, something that none of us have ever witnessed and are not likely to ever see again. Yesterday our President and our Vice-President publicly told the egocentric, anti-Christian, vengeful Volodymyr Zelensky - “No”. It was a popcorn worthy event but one that was so enthralling that we could only watch in awe and wonder about what we were witnessing and what would be next while the popcorn rested comfortably in its bowl.
This Nation in order to help the Ukrainian People survive an onslaught by Vladimir Putin has given almost $400B in cash and military weaponry to Zelensky so that he could defend his country against the invader Putin a $100B of which Zelensky has blithely remarked that he has no idea where it is or how it was spent - it just gone. It has been a generous commitment to a “democracy” that is standing in the breach against the authoritarian Putin. We have kept the Ukraine above water but the toll on the people of both sides has been staggering. The best estimate has been provided by Mark Rutte, NATO Secretary General who put the combined total of casualties; Russian and Ukrainian, combatants and non-combatants, war fighters and civilians at more than 1,000,000. The true number is unknown largely because when cities are destroyed buildings collapse on their occupants.
During his campaign President Trump was consistent and adamant about peace in Eastern Europe being a first priority. Trump clearly read the potential for World War III as Putin replenishes his young men with those of North Korea and Zelensky appeals to our Congress for more aid. Actually Zelensky is not really appealing for aid - he’s demanding it. Therein lies the reason for the conflict that we watched yesterday.
While Trump hoped with no real assurance that Zelensky was ready to move toward peace, Zelensky showed up in the Oval Office dressed for running a few Saturday morning errands, blustered, pontificated, and postured in a thinly veiled demand for the security of either a NATO inclusion, U.S. boots on the ground or both. Peace with the Russians is apparently not part of Zelensky’s agenda. It was a tragic moment for the Ukraine and her People.

I am certain that similar scenes have been captured in Russia but no one is reporting those.
So what is Trump seeing? Trump is seeing all of it. Not only is he seeing images like these but he is also seeing nations bankrupting themselves for reasons that are unclear to almost anyone except perhaps Vladimir Putin and Volodymyr Zelensky.
That the American people have participated in this carnage with our money and in many cases with the self-righteous bravado of the distant non-combatant left who have no risk of death, injury, hunger or homelessness and who have made no effort to stop it. It is a fact portraying what should be our National shame.
Once upon time — in my lifetime and that of my generation — the democrat party was the party of peace at all cost. And now? It is a party of war mongers who are seizing yesterday’s debacle as a basis for more disparagement of the only peace maker in the room, Donald Trump supported by JD Vance and Marco Rubio. Even Lindsay Graham weighed in with unequivocal support for the President.
But the democrats and their media toadies have learned nothing from the election of Donald Trump and so they spew more of their anti-Trump venom. Meanwhile, unless Zelensky can find humility images like those above will simply multiply until the Ukraine is gone.
It is a sure bet that none of the nations rushing to help Zelensky lick his Oval Office wounds will give him hundreds of billions of dollars or the hardware needed to continue this war. Zelensky must do one other thing besides find humility, he has an obligation to his people to take a personal journey through the history of dictators and how they fared in war. Here is a partial list of those whose experience he should remember: Adolph Hitler, Bennito Mussolini, Juan Peron, Pol Pot, Muammar Qaddaffi, Osama bin Laden, and Saddam Hussein.
Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God. Matthew 5:9

A final word.
When I talk to my local politician all of whom I have great respect for I ask them to do one thing: be the good Shepard John 10:10-12. Think about what you saw yesterday and ask yourself: which of those people was trying to be the good Shepard?
