I am on a bit of a tear this morning. You see once again I find myself confronted with the stark reality of who we are and who we should be. We are not living up to expectations. Whose expectations? Those of our founders and those of God. It is that simple. As Benjamin Franklin famously answered when asked what kind of government the founders had created: “A Republic, if you can keep it.”
And where did the Founders arrive at the notion of a Republic? By examination of two things. First, every form of government known to them at the time. Second, the Bible which also described all the ways of governing known to man before and after the birth of Christ.
And so when they determined that it was time to step out on their own they relied first on what knew to be a universal truth: “…all men are created equal and are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness.” This one clause is the most profound expression of who we are and where we came from of any.
And how does Kamal Harris view our “democracy”?
“Our election is about understanding the importance of this beautiful country of ours in terms of what we stand for around the globe as a democracy. As a democracy we know there’s a duality to the nature of democracy. On the one hand, incredible strength when it is intact. What it does for its people to protect and defend their rights, their liberty, and their freedom. Incredibly strong and incredibly fragile.”
This is beyond “word salad”. Its either intentional in order to diminish the grandeur of America and how we came to be the most consequential Nation in human history OR a window into the complete failure of Kamala Harris to to truly understand how we came to be this “one Nation under God.”
What is more disturbing than this quotation about her view of democracy is her stated policy to repair the economy that she and Joe Biden have nearly destroyed in just three and one-half years. In response to the universal concern about inflation in the US under the Biden-Harris or Harris-Biden administration, Kamala’s campaign had this to say:
"There’s a big difference between fair pricing in competitive markets and excessive prices unrelated to the costs of doing business," the Harris campaign said in a statement. "Americans can see that difference in their grocery bills."
Actually, the difference is not discernible by the consumer at all. All consumers notice is that just three and one-half years ago they could feed their families for about 28% less than they can now.
As much as Harris and her camp may try to convince voters that this is all due to Donald Trump, corporate greed, price gouging or the phase of the moon the only difference between 2017 and 2024 is that Joe Biden and Kamala Harris became President and Vice President of the United States.
Promises by Harris to do something on “day one” of her administration make little sense given the fact that she could and should be doing something now. Wage and price controls is not that “something”. Why because they don’t work. We know they don’t work because we have seen them fail in the Soviet Union, China, Venezuela, and even in the United States under Jimmy Carter.
And if you don’t trust me then perhaps you can trust former Obama economist, Jason Furman, Harvard who offered this concerning the Harris proposal:
"This is not sensible policy, and I think the biggest hope is that it ends up being a lot of rhetoric and no reality," Jason Furman told The New York Times in a report published Friday. "There’s no upside here, and there is some downside."
What might that “downside” be? Thanks to Jimmy Carter and the “Guidelines” issued by his Council on Wage and Price Stability we know that:
“Patently, the guidelines did not slow the rate of inflation: during 1979 the decline in the purchasing power of money actually accelerated. That the program failed to achieve its ostensible objective therefore is beyond argument.
The guidelines did have other effects. They (1) imposed substantial reporting costs on hundreds of large firms; (2) disrupted several important collective bargaining negotiations, twice helping to bring about costly and disruptive strikes; (3) induced distortions in the economy’s structure of relative prices, with consequent shortages of various goods and services and reductions in overall economic efficiency and consumer welfare; (4) exacerbated a variety of social conflicts; and (5) further jeopardized American liberties through the demagogic, congressionally unauthorized, and constitutionally questionable actions of the President and COWPS.”
There are many things that socialists, progressives, Marxists, and academics like to remind us of in conversation about communism. Most often we hear this:
‘Communism hasn’t been successful because no one has implemented it correctly.’
The truth is that Communism will never work because it provides no incentive foranyone to do anything — unless of course you’re the guy at the top. But even the guy at the top has a problem — staying alive.
If you are still not convinced of who Kamala Harris really is perhaps this will seal the deal — “I have the will to do it.”
Do things her way. Charge what she says you should charge — even for your own property real or intellectual — or she will simply “take it away’.
44So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him. 45“Who then is the faithful and wise servant, whom the master has put in charge of the servants in his household to give them their food at the proper time? 46It will be good for that servant whose master finds him doing so when he returns. 47Truly I tell you, he will put him in charge of all his possessions. 48But suppose that servant is wicked and says to himself, ‘My master is staying away a long time,’ 49and he then begins to beat his fellow servants and to eat and drink with drunkards. 50The master of that servant will come on a day when he does not expect him and at an hour he is not aware of. 51He will cut him to pieces and assign him a place with the hypocrites, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

If we are to continue on God’s path and preserve the Republic the ideas and deeds of people such as Kamala Harris must be rejected at every turn. That means that as Christians we are obligated to vote and to vote for whom God would have us vote for not because of the party they belong to but because they are people who strive to be Godly.

"Comminism always fails".
Not necessarily. Communism succeeds for leaders who are concerned with cementing absolute power around themselves. Communism works for the useful idiots who have no sense of self, and desperately need to be part of a cult.
At some point, their suffering becomes more than they can bear, and they revolt. And then some other dictator takes control. Rinse and repeat.
