“President Biden’s chief medical adviser Anthony Fauci predicted Wednesday that there will likely be a rise in COVID-19 cases in the coming weeks as well as a potential surge in the fall.
“I think we should expect, David, that over the next couple of weeks, we are going to see an uptick in cases – and hopefully there is enough background immunity so that we don’t wind up with a lot of hospitalizations,” Fauci told Bloomberg TV’s David Westin.”
So —once again — we’re all going to die. New variant. BA.2 — gonna get us all. But it is already here and it has been for months. Right now BA.2 constitutes about 73% of all SARS-CoV-2 variants. And the data?
Seven day average cases (CDC.gov) April 8, 2022 = 28,169/330,000,000 = 0.0085%
Seven day average mortality (CDC.gov) April 7, 2022 = 1/100,000 = 0.001%
New hospital admissions (CDC.gov) April 8, 2022 = 1,437/330,000,000 = 0.0004%
Putting on my well worn public health policy hat, here is my best offering: Have a great summer. Wash your hands.
And what does Natalie Prieb, the story’s author have to say about all of this? Clearly, we should all be concerned because:
”The coronavirus is also making its way through Congress. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) tested positive for the disease earlier this week. Following the news of her infection, Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine) announced she had tested positive for COVID-19.”
There you have it. Two positive tests. Not confirmed cases. Just two positive tests. Note well that Nancy Pelosi made a point of telling us that she was asymptomatic. Some might suggest that she had a false positive test result. At least this current outbreak (insert eye roll) is bi-partisan.
