As the world reeled from what was described as a novel virus that arose in Wuhan China in 2019 President Donald Trump assembled what he was told was a dream team of the nation’s top public health doctors to construct the nations response to what was often described as the biggest public health threat we have ever faced. At the head of that dream team was Dr. Anthony Fauci, Director, National Institute for Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), an agency of the National Institutes of Health (NIH). As the Director of NIAID Fauci oversees an annual budget of $7.6 B and is the highest paid government official in the history of the nation.
The first thing that Tony Fauci did was convince President Trump that the key to ending the pandemic of SARS-CoV-2 was the development of a vaccine. What President Trump didn't know is that despite its Congressional mission to research chronic diseases and determine their causes, Fauci had turned NIAID into an incubator for pharmaceutical company vaccine development; an activity from which he and his colleagues at NIAID had been profiting from for decades.
In the 1980’s Congress allowed government scientists to begin holding patents on their scientific achievements; work performed using our tax dollars. Fauci quickly learned that patents held by he and his staff could be sold to or shared with those very pharmaceutical companies that have their drug approvals overseen by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) OR by university researchers who received NIH research grants. Interestingly enough Fauci also participates in the FDA approval process for vaccines and other drugs.
With that as background its time to go back to the bouncing ball of CDC’s response to SARS-CoV-2 beginning with vaccine development, marketing, and mandates.
What is a Vaccine?
According to Merriam-Webster a vaccine is “a preparation that is administered (as by injection) to stimulate the body's immune response against a specific infectious agent or disease.”
That definition of a vaccine is the one that we all grew up with and it was, therefore, the definition that President Trump believed would guide the government’s effort to stop the pandemic in its tracks.
When the novel vaccine to stop the novel virus was finally rolled out in 2020, thanks to the President’s Operation Warp Speed, the CDC which was charged with distributing it and providing guidelines for its administration, soon learned that it failed to stop the transmission of SARS-CoV-2. But CDC Director Walensky and Tony Fauci didn’t panic — they pivoted. Instead of one injection, Fauci and Walensky advised the Nation that such things often happen and that a second injection would be needed to confer full immunity. And so America rushed to become “fully vaccinated” through the administration of two doses of the vaccine. Despite the assurances of Walensky and Fauci, SARS-CoV-2 continued to spread through the population.
The conversations between the two leaders of the greatest public health response in our history about what to do next must have been a fascinating exploration of ‘What do we do now?’ But just as they had done before, Walensky and Fauci had a solution to explain the faltering course of “the science”, restore the public’s confidence, and most of all stop the questioning of the vaccine’s efficacy; they simply changed the definition of a vaccine. Under Walensky a vaccine became something that “may” stop the transmission of a virus but “will” lessen the severity of the disease should you get it and “will” also reduce the risk of death from the disease. CDC, Tony Fauci, the FDA, and Pfizer were now covered again.
With a new definition of “vaccine” CDC was now free to issue “guidelines” on how to be vaccinated. First it was a single dose but that was soon shown to be ineffective and so a second dose was required but that also proved to be ineffective. CDC pivoted again. The nation was now told that the doses needed to be spaced at least one month apart. And so the medical community — and the media — hurried to notify America of the dosing schedule change. And many American’s complied without question.
However, despite the Nation’s increasing compliance with the new narrative of how to become “fully vaccinated”, SARS-CoV-2 continued to run through the nation but worse yet people who had thought that they were “fully vaccinated” after two doses one month apart were now told that they wouldn’t be “fully vaccinated” until 14 days AFTER the second dose. Once again Walensky, Fauci, and the CDC changed the definition of “fully vaccinated” and suddenly the questions returned.
We now know that this dosing regimen has also failed partially because of its waning effectiveness but primarily because the mRNA in the vaccine is incapable of recognizing the highly mutated Omicron variant. CDC is now suggesting a third “booster shot” is needed to be considered “fully vaccinated” and in Israel a fourth dose is being deployed.
As each new definition of “fully vaccinated” emerged those once called “fully vaccinated” were suddenly considered “unvaccinated” making the epidemiology of COVID-19 virtually impossible to unpack. Nevertheless, because of this clouding of “the science” CDC remained well somewhat protected from blowback of their failed vaccination “guidelines” while at the same time giving cover to Tony Fauci and protecting his pocket book and those of his NIH colleagues.
Why was it important to protect Fauci? Money. Period. End of story. According to Joeseph Mercola (How Anthony Fauci Controls Science Globally, Jan. 20, 2022):
”The NIH owns half the patent for Moderna’s COVID-19 injection, which means that it stands to make billions of dollars a s result. Four of Fauci’s top deputies will also collect $150,00 a year for life as a result — from a product they’re responsible for regulating, an obvious conflict of interests.”
Even this didn’t satisfy Fauci’s greed everyone had to be “vaccinated” EVEN those who had recovered from COVID-19. All through history recovery from a viral illness meant that a person had acquired natural immunity but not now. Natural immunity was ignored and denigrated by both Fauci, CDC, and the vast network of university researchers whose research depends on NIH grant money.
