“While the government acknowledged the legitimacy of religious objections, the department noted that "patients also have autonomy, rights, and moral and religious convictions," but argued that patients with different positions on such matters might be faced with urgent healthcare needs that conflicted with the values of personnel.” — Ben Whedon, Just The News 29 December 2022
This quotation is from a piece about the Biden administration proposing to ignore a rule which the Trump administration tried to implement during his presidency but his effort was met with great opposition. You see, Donald Trump, The Unlikely Messenger, understood that there were people of great faith who needed to have their faith based decisions protected from those who would strip them of the right to not just believe that abortion is the murder of children and, therefore, a sin against God and God’s creation and necessarily amoral but to live their lives accordingly at home, at work, and in all things that they do.
Those same protections were extended to those who have clarity on the issue of transgenderism. The Bible and science are clear on this: there are but two genders male and female; man and woman. Gender is a 1 or a 0. Biblically or scientifically there is nothing in-between and one cannot decide which they want to be without violating God’s commands and God’s natural law.
But the left wing of our politics blurs all of this and they are doing their best to institutionalize and codify amoral arguments made by those who choose the morality of 0.
I want you to read the introductory quotation again and I want you to read it as a 1:
“While the government acknowledged the legitimacy of religious objections, the department noted that "patients also have autonomy, rights, and moral and religious convictions….”
and a 0:
“…but argued that patients with different positions on such matters might be faced with urgent healthcare needs that conflicted with the values of personnel.”
This argument by the Biden administration does several things; it argues for protections for all understandings of the human condition not just that of people of faith but for those of confused or no faith; those who follow God and God’s commands and those who reject them or nuance them for their personal comfort. But the worst thing that it does is to set up those with “legitimate religious objections” as the outliers in society as it equates the acceptance of abortion and transgenderism with the faith and science based rejection of them. In other words, for the Biden administration killing a baby in utero and undergoing radical medical treatments and surgeries to attempt to change a person’s gender are morally equivalent to rejecting abortion and transgenderism based on God’s commands and His natural laws.
Morality is binary; it is a 1 or a 0. We either choose to make moral decisions or we choose to create a situational morality wherein any human activity in which we want to participate is deemed moral. To be sure we are human and we are flawed. We struggle with abiding by God’s morality constantly. This struggle is what sets us apart from both God and Satan; a 1 or a 0.
God is perfect in his goodness and we are flawed but we constantly strive to reach his perfection. Satan is the great confuser who tells us that there are shades of gray between 1 and 0. There are not. Not in God’s eyes and not in the mathematics that He created.
We have surrounded ourselves with politicians who lie and steal; media outlets and personalities that have chosen sides based not on objective reportage but rather on promoting their own situational morality. We have elected school boards that have made it their policy to promote acceptance of transgenderism by our children and in doing so have warned them against telling their parents about it. We have a federal government that has set itself against God’s commands and teaching of a 1 or a 0 and instead protects the false notion that there are shades of gray between 1 and 0.
This nation, despite claims to opposite, was founded on deeply held religious convictions and it functioned that way for decades. That deeply held faith brought God’s grace on us and made us a great nation. There is but a single path to national greatness; 0 is not that path.
19My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, 20because human anger does not produce the righteousness that God desires.
21Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent and humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save you. 22Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. 23Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in a mirror 24and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like.
25But whoever looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues in it—not forgetting what they have heard, but doing it—they will be blessed in what they do. 26Those who consider themselves religious and yet do not keep a tight rein on their tongues deceive themselves, and their religion is worthless. 27Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world. This is reminiscent of “situational ethics,” a since discredited idea popularized in the early sixties. There have to be foundational principles and moral truths. Many people find these in Scripture. As someone once said, “If you don’t stand for something, you’ll fall for anything!”
