“By any means necessary.” —Motto of the “Palestinians”/ Hamas.
“God Is Great, Death to America, Death to Israel, Curse on the Jews, Victory to Islam".— Motto of the Iranian supported Houthi rebels in southern Yemen.
"Our struggle will end only when this entity [Israel] is obliterated”. — “Motto of Hezbollah.
Each of these organization are trained, funded, supported, and supplied by Iran. It is through these principal organizations that Iran can project power without risking even a paper cut. In general, these three organizations are comprised of Shia muslims that have been engaged in terrorism since at least the 18th century. These three organizations are the principle parts of the Iranian “Axis of Resistance”. It is called “Resistance” because very few would support the effort if it were to go by a more accurately descriptive name like: Axis of Genocide.
Of the three, Hamas has the least sophisticated stockpile of weapons but it is still fully capable of waging brutal and very personal attacks against the civilian populations of Israel and those nations who support Israel. Hamas also has on occasion attacked the Israel Defense Forces. Hamas has been engaged in the murder, kidnaping, and torture of Israelis for about 80 years. Their primary weapon for the last 20 or so years has been a large stockpile of short range rockets. Since the initial barrage of several thousand rockets on October 7, 2023, Hamas has been launching about 100 rockets per day into Israel. In the 25 days that this war has been waged Israel has been subjected to the whims of 2,500+/- rockets. Hamas occupies Gaza and the so called West Bank.
Hezbollah, sitting to the North of Israel is estimated to have about 60,000 combat ready fighters. Hezbollah has drones, some guided missiles and guided anti-tank weapons. Hezbollah has also developed a sophisticated “intelligence” (read spy network) which at times has infiltrated both the Israeli Defense forces but also the United States military. Hezbollah has been conducting terrorist attacks around the globe since its inception.
The Huthi “Rebels” (about 150,000 strong) appear to be the most sophisticated and well equipped of the three and they are also the closest to Iran geographically and the farthest from Israel, about 1,000 miles. The Houthis occupy southern Yemen and have direct access to the Red Sea which they are apparently using as a “road way” for the delivery of drones and cruise missiles or other guided missiles to both Israel and US Naval assets in the Mediterranean Sea. To date none of those attacks have been successful. However, it is worth noting that at least two missiles launched from Yemen at Israel actually exploded in Egyptian towns. To combat this increasing threat, Israel has deployed missile boats into the Red Sea.
Israel is now fighting a war started by Hamas following two years of planning and training under the guidance of Iran, on three fronts: Hamas on the East, Hezbollah to the North, and the Houthi Rebels more than 1,000 miles to their South. All three organizations exist for the express purpose of eliminating Israel and if possible, the United States. It is also highly likely that Iran has a hand in the world wide protests against “Israeli aggression” that have been most notably seen in the United States, Great Britain, and Russia (Dagestan).
The geographic scope of this war is expanding by the hand of Iran. Who will play the better chess match and be victorious remains to be seen as will what that victory will look like. It will most likely not include Hamas and quite possibly Hezbollah. The US role in this latest battle between Islam and Judaism and Christianity remains to be seen as well but it is certain that the U.S. will not tolerate direct attacks on its naval assets or its personal.
Complicating all of this further is the NATO member and largely Islamic nation of Turkey, home to three US air bases whose president, Tayyip Erdogan recently said:
“Israel, we will proclaim you as a war criminal to the world. We are making our preparations, and we will declare Israel to the world as a war criminal.”
Iran wanted a war and now it seems to have it.
