VOLUME III, CHAPTER 3: THE BATTLE FIELD OF THE DIVERSITY WAR
Part 1: In The Blue Corner --- Love
I have divided this Chapter into two parts. The first provides an explanation of the importance of God’s command in our understanding and misunderstanding of the proper role of our Churches with respect to the LGBTQ+ community. The second provides an overview of how our major denominations are addressing the LGBTQ+ community.
Part 1: Love
“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.” John 13:34
The United States was founded on Judeo-Christian principles. ← Period. This is a statement not open for debate. While many argue that the Founders were not all Christians, therefore, this statement is false - they are wrong.
Why is it important to accept that fact? Because it provides the basis for understanding how our nation has become so divided when once we, as a nation, were clear in our belief that our authority and human rights came from God and not man. That is an inconvenient truth for those who take argument with God’s existence, word, and the limits that he places on us. Those without God in their lives have found that living in a God centered world impedes their ability to pursue anything they wish without consequence.
This is the nub of the battle that has been the hallmark of human history. The schism between those who accept God and his word and those who do not is well chronicled in The Old and New Testaments. The Old Testament is filled with God’s word and stories written by those who accepted God and his commands and it also describes the consequences of rejecting Him and His commands. The New Testament acknowledges man’s penchant for sin but provides salvation through God’s eternal grace for those who accept His teachings.
In the secular world we see this battle playing out everyday in our “news” which chronicles the intentional departure of man from God everyday. The news also tells us about new laws created by cities, counties, and states, and a federal government that openly rejects the God centered basis for those laws that form the foundation of our Constitution. The replacement of God centered laws with man centered laws and policies creates chaos in our lives.
Efforts to “defund” the police, eliminate cash bail, and create insignificant penalties for significant crimes are nothing more than the result of the labors of a vocal and sometimes violent minority that rejects laws based on God’s commands and would replace them with a system of administrative regulations that switch authority from a God centered ideology to man centered rules and policies under that allow each individual to be their own god, free to define which laws of man and God apply to them and which do not. This is done with the demand that there be no consequences for their anarchical and self-centered behavior and the promise that there will be repercussion for those of us who reject their egocentricity.
They have been successful in their efforts by convincing those of weak character that God’s commands and the acts of God’s “hand” are impinging on their “rights” to be and act as they wish — no matter how far outside the realm of truth that may be. That departure form truth includes something as fundamental as gender and the assertion that “gender” is assigned at birth by humans and has nothing at all to do with God’s creation. For the vast majority of us that is a perversion of Truth.
What is that Truth with regard to human biology? It is this:
So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them. Genesis 1:27
For the thoughtful and honest biologist, biochemist, physicist, chemist, physiologist … there can be no viable alternative explanation for the presence of life in all its naturally diverse forms on Earth. For those who think this to be an extreme position I suggest that you read this and decide whether human existence is the result of a biologically implausible, rapid series of positive mutations or the work of a divine creator. You choose.
So why this trek into theology? Because this Chapter explores how our major Christian and Jewish denominations are addressing the LGBTQ+ universe and what their current “teaching” on LGBTQ+ ideology is.
Not long ago I was talking with the Pastor of my church and I offered that in Christianity that there are only ten rules but that they are really hard to follow. His response was short and spot on. “No” he said. He continued: “There is only one rule; that we love God and one another”.
And that dear reader is where it all goes awry for the LGBTQ+ community and where it begins to instill chaos in our minds and hearts. But for us it should really be very simple. Loving a person does not mean that we must also embrace their sin, their lawlessness, their perversion. But as you will see, the LGBTQ+ community is using that teaching, the instruction to Love one another, to demand that we also accept their sin, their lawlessness, their perversion and that they because of God’s command to love, have the right to impose their understanding of gender, sexuality, and Love on our children.
If you think that this is simply a theological argument I urge you to read H.R.5, The Equality Act passed by a democrat controlled House of Representatives by a vote of 221 to 206. EVERY democrat and three republicans voted for this bill which:
“… prohibits discrimination based on sex, sexual orientation, and gender identity in areas including public accommodations and facilities, education, federal funding, employment, housing, credit, and the jury system. Specifically, the bill defines and includes sex, sexual orientation, and gender identity among the prohibited categories of discrimination or segregation.(emphasis added)
The bill expands the definition of public accommodations to include places or establishments that provide (1) exhibitions, recreation, exercise, amusement, gatherings, or displays; (2) goods, services, or programs; and (3) transportation services.” (emphasis added)
So far the Senate has not voted on this bill.
With the confusion in our culture and our government sown by the demand to accept LGBTQ+ ideology as a constitutional right, it is extraordinarily disturbing to find that many of our church organizations are also supporting the notion that gender and sexual “fluidity” are well within the bounds of God’s creation and his command to love. Sadly, our cultural influences and our federal government have found an ally in many church organizations.
To be clear, I am not referring to the congregants of a Church but rather the faith leaders who establish the policies that their congregants are expected to accept and follow. It is our faith leaders of all denominations who are the moral guides whom we expect show us how the Word of God applies to our daily lives. Many of us feel that they have failed us.
Case in point: Where is The Church, The Temple in Oregon?
Part 2, will explore how our major denominations of Christians and Jews are addressing the LGBTQ+ community and how they reconcile their dogma with the Word of God.
