Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R) GA announced that she and Jamie Comer (R) KY, Chairman of the House Oversight Committee would be visiting incarcerated people who have been charged with crimes committed on January 6 at what the legacy media, democrats and RINOs have called a violent insurrection perpetrated by President Trump in order to stay in office DESPITE having legally and objectively lost the 2020 election.
Those who are still incarcerated (some for as long as three years now) have yet to be brought to trail or allowed bail. Why? Because the federal government under Joe Biden and a Department of Justice shown repeatedly to have a bias against and abject hated for President Trump convinced several judges that these American Citizen must be denied bail because their violent behavior is unpredictably violent and, therefore, they cannot be allowed to roam freely in a polite society. Keep in mind that not a single one of the alleged insurrectionists was found to be in possession of a gun, knife, explosive or incendiary device nor did any have a prior record of violence.
Here is what Rep. Jamie Raskin (D) MD said about the planned trip:
"Our GOP colleagues' sudden and selective sympathy for January 6 insurrectionists reflects their continuing effort to lionize the violent attempt to overthrow the 2020 presidential election," Raskin contended.”
Let’s unpack Rep. Raskin’s statement a wee tad bit beginning with this description of the detainees as “insurrectionists”. What exactly is an “insurrectionist”. That’s easy. An insurrectionist is one who is committing an act of insurrection and what precisely is an “insurrection”? Merriam-Webster tells us that a “rebellion” is a synonym of “insurrection” and taken together they: “imply an armed uprising that quickly fails or succeeds.”
Were the events of January 6, 2020 “an armed uprising”?
IF you consider a flag pole a weapon the answer is yes. However, if you think about all the insurrections you have ever heard of — everyone of them involved guns, explosives, knives or perhaps Molotov cocktails but never just flag poles.
If a flag pole is weapon then why isn’t it regulated by state or federal law? As far as I know no one has ever been charged with illegal possession of flag pole or the illegal sale of one. Nor has anyone every proposed any regulation restricting the ownership of high-capacity flag poles. AND IF a flag pole is a weapon only a very small number of those incarcerated may be guilty of possession a flag pole while entering the U.S. Capital.
Do not get me wrong — there were acts of vandalism and physical violence committed. We all saw it — endlessly. The legacy media and those hostile to President Trump ensured that it was the only video we ever saw of the events surrounding January 6, 2020.
But the security video released by House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R) to Fox News analyst Tucker Carlson shows quite a different picture of this alleged insurrection.
In fact, Carlson did several segments showing video that we had never seen before because it was withheld from the public by the democrat lead and decidedly partisan January 6th committee. Why would the democrats withhold this video? Because it destroys their narrative that the hundreds of thousands of Trump supporters (perhaps more than one million) were engaged in an armed insurrection AND it shows that the video shown by the democrats who held the investigation was in some instances altered to fit their narrative of a “violent insurrection”. It was as Carlson stated, “propaganda” and it was created by legislators who took an oath of office in which they swore to uphold the Constitution and by extension the laws of the nation. Ginning up a video to prove a point that is false is illegal.
There are more clips here and here. I urge you to view them for yourselves and you decide what really happened.
And just to put as fine a point on this as a I can. Here are two Tweets of President Trump calling not for “overthrow” of a duly elected government but instead calling on all who could hear him too “Stay peaceful!” and to commit “no violence” and to “respect the law and our great men and woman in Blue.”
I have never, ever heard of the leader of an insurrection telling his “insurrectionists” to “stay peaceful” and “respect the law”.
We have endured seven years now in which our government has told the most egregious lies. It has lied about President Trump “colluding” with Russians, the entirety of SARS-Cov-2, COVID, masks, lockdowns, and mRNA, stuff. And now we see the grand lie of January 6.
I’ll leave sorting out the politics of all of this to each of you. I don’t think that it will take a long time.
