Those of you who have hung out with me at the cleverly named Larry’s Letters have more than likely realized that I write in streaks and that lately those streaks have been few and far between.
There is a reason for my seemingly haphazard and disinterested posting “schedule” and it is certainly not because I have no interest in producing Larry’s Letters or in writing. I love to write. I’ve been writing professionally and for fun and no profit for almost 50 years. That’s a long time as humans go but just a blink of an eye with respect to the history life as we know it.
The reason I haven’t been writing lately is not because I don’t know what to write; there is most assuredly lots of material. Sometimes I think there’s too much but then I look at what is being written and published in the media and other outlets. When I take a close look I find that there’s way too little being written on things that really matter and far, far too much on what we are being told is important but really isn’t. Even worse, much of what were being presented with is either speculation or a misrepresentation of the truth. BTW — there really is only one truth; a thing either is or it isn’t.
It is not that I am disinterested in the stories that I choose to read. After all, if I were truly disinterested why would I choose to read them? It’s worse than that. Very little of what appears on our alleged “news” sites is well written and well reported. The lack of writing skill and proof reading is an organic structural problem in the industry. But the lack of proper reportage is intentional.
Case in point regarding benign poor reportage. I ran across a story about the soon to occur (April 8th) total eclipse of the sun which will be visible in a narrow swath of the United States. It immediately caught my attention because I’m interested in things like solar and lunar eclipses. It took 10 minutes of reading three different reports on this future total solar eclipse before I found one that told me what the path of it across the U.S. will be.
The very first article that I read was more interested in explaining, poorly, why I might not see the eclipse even if I lived directly under its not specified path due to potential cloud cover. Finally I found the information I wanted in a YouTube posting of a report that showed me both the path along which the eclipse could be observed and the likely cloud cover present at that time based on historical weather records.
When it comes to things like total eclipses I want to know when and where. Period. Everything else is meaningless until it actually happens. Speculation on potential cloud cover doesn’t make the cut.
IF the media can’t write a story about a total solar eclipse that is both fact laden and well written what are the odds that they can explain any one of the accusations leveled at Donald Trump or who the real committers of genocide in the Middle East are?
For example: can any of you right now without batting an eye find a single story about January 6, 2020 that does not a) contain the word “insurrection” and b) a link of said “insurrection” to President Trump?
Now here is my real question how many of any of thousands of pieces written about January 6, 2020 contain these words:
An insurrection is an act or instance of revolting against civil authority or an established government.
That is the Merriam-Webster definition of an insurrection.
How, many of those same stories report that insinuate that President Trump led an insurrection also report that he is on a recorded calling for a “peaceable march” to the Capitol in order to pressure Congress to conduct an investigation into the voting fraud that we now all know occurred during the Presidential election? Worse yet many how reports have you read that explain that NOT ONE SINGLE PERSON including President Trump has been arrested for or tried for and found guilty of insurrection? Can you answer this question? How many of those arrested for their “activity” on January 6, 2020 were charged with a weapons crime? “Weapon” being narrowly defined as a firearm.
As of this morning (5 March 2024) it is now clear that the States do not have the constitutional authority to decide which candidate or candidates for federal office can or cannot be on their state’s ballots. The states that attempted to prevent Donald Trump from being on their ballots used the pretext that he was part of the January 6, 2020 insurrection. Unpacking that one sentence goes like this:
No insurrection was ever declared.
President Trump has never been arrested and charged, tried, and found guilty of insurrection.
As the Supreme Court of the United States unanimously decided the several states simply do not have constitutional authority to decide who will or will not appear on ballots for federal office in their states.
This is all basic civics and elementary constitutional law that once upon a time in America we were all taught. But no more; not in our schools and not in our media.
When the case against Donald Trump in Fulton County, GA is put under this same analysis it becomes exactly what Trump calls it; a political witch hunt lead by one of the most corrupt District Attorneys in America, Fanni Willis.
Ms. Willis acquired a married lover prior to indicting President Trump for “election interference”; more on that later. Then Ms. Willis hired her paramour and paid him $655,000 of the people’s money to be her chief prosecutor in this case; a position for which he was not qualified. During her recent hearing Ms. Willis revealed that: 1) she kept lots of cash in her home because her daddy told her to and that some of that cash came from campaign contributions and 2) she used that same cash to reimburse her married lover for her share of expenses incurred on lavish getaways with him. No receipts were kept and no explanation of how she separated her campaign cash from her other cash given. Finally, Ms. Willis and her lover have insisted that their affair began AFTER she hired him but there are at least three first hand witnesses who have or will testify to the falsity of Ms. Willis’ assertion. There is now also some evidence that she instructed one witness to lie under oath about when her affair with Nicholas Wade began. THAT is witness tampering which is a felony.
I provided that synoptic digression simply to show you how corrupt Trump’s legal opponents are.
As for the charges of interfering in an election made against the president by Ms. Willis, no solid evidence other than a speculative interpretation of a phone call made to the GA Secretary of State has been presented. Yet the media rather than explain the right of every candidate to question “odd” election returns is written into the US Constitution they have spent their time explain the legal penalties facing the president election interference and they have failed to explain that there is no evidence of election interference on the President’s part.
Intentionally biasing public opinion by misrepresenting the facts of and the prosecution of a fictional crime by a corrupt prosecutor and her paid lover — married lover, and witness tampering to cover up her affair which began prior to the indictment of President Trump is where the actual election interference and other crimes have been committed.
Final example of the failure of media to be true and objective reporters of fact. It begins with this fundamental question: what is fraud? Again, Merriam-Webster:
Fraud is Deceit or Trickery
specifically : the intentional perversion of truth in order to induce another to part with something of value or to surrender a legal right.
Letitia James, the Attorney General for the Manhattan District of the state of New York ran on a campaign of “getting Trump”. After Ms. James was elected she immediately convened a grand jury which returned an indictment against President Trump for committing “fraud” by obtaining loans using his New York City properties and other properties around the nation as collateral. Ms. James asserted that President Trump committed fraud by over stating the value of his properties in order to obtain those loans.
The “judge” in this case, Arthur Engoron, in a summary judgement given without a trial or a hearing of evidentiary rebuttal by the President concluded that the Grand Jury was right, Trump had committed fraud and all that was left to do was set the penalty which now stands at just under $500,000,000 dollars with exorbitant interest accruing daily.
What the media fails to explain is that every bank in the world does its own due diligence which means none of the banks that Trump borrowed money from relied on his assertion of the value of his properties and every bank made money from the prompt and timely repayment of the loans that they made to him.
This is not fraud but it is routine borrowing and lending practice.
Nothing of value was deceitfully obtained by President Trump but Letitia James is gaining votes because of her deceit. A vote is the most valuable thing we have as US Citizens. It is Ms. James is using this deceitful prosecution to obtain something of value — a vote. It is Ms. James who has committed fraud.
All of this begs the question: Why?
Why are liberals and their allies in the media all conspiring to deceive you and me? Power and misery.
Power is obvious, politicians feed on it; they all should have Gollum as their mascot. “Misery” is a bit more complex.
There is no question that those who are attacking President Trump AND his supporters fear loss of power. In order to keep that power Trump and his supporters must be not just defeated at the polls but vanquished and erased from society. It is not enough that liberals can vote for someone else YOU must be prevented from voting for the candidate that they hate.
And “misery”? I have come to believe this: Liberals are profoundly unhappy people who can best be described as “miserable”. Nothing brings them true joy and happiness. Not the birth of a baby, a wild flower in spring or the promise of eternal life. Nothing brings them true happiness; they will always be “miserable”.
And that is where the media has brought us the place where liberals have a right to be miserable but they also have a right to make certain that the rest of us are equally miserable.

I get the part about uninformative solar eclipse reporting. Modern 'journalism' is dedicated to promoting their narrative, not informing.
I have noticed, and I wish everyone did, that the WSJ and AP. among others, never miss a chance to mention 'Trump's false claims' concerning the 2020 election. They use those exact words, 'Trump's false claims' incessantly, almost regardless of what they're reporting on. Yet, the NEVER specify what those claims are, or how they know them to be false.
Of course, 'climate change' is the same. Today, any adverse weather event is 'climate change.' Yet, perfectly nice, sunny days are NOT climate change. That is non-sensical non-logic. You don't have to be an ignorant fool to be a 'journalist', but it certainly helps.
