So I'm gonna take it back further - 1992. The Clintons were so charming, and I had no idea of the corruption when I voted for him (I was a lot more naive then, too). Like with Obama, I had a lot of hope when Bill Clinton took office. Perhaps, now (I am a member of a religious minority, and at the time, Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson were driving a lot of politics, and I could ***see*** their corruption) my tribe would be safe from the Religious Right.

But Clinton's FIRST act upon entering the White House was "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" for the US Military. Of all the policies he could enact - maybe something environmental, maybe something to help with the horrid healthcare problem, maybe raising the minimum wage or sommat to help the little guy (that was his platform, after all) he made some kind of Gay legislation.

I didn't object to "Don't Ask, Don't Tell," it seemed so minor, so tiny. But it did strike me as bizarre that this was his first act.

I know we are supposed to respect our leaders but these people make it really, really hard! Thank you for all you do to shine the light in the darkness! God bless.
